Meet a local Mumma!

Each week we chat to local mums in our community group to discuss lots of different topics. What keeps them ticking while navigating motherhood, what their ideal night out looks like, the ups and downs of motherhood, their interests and hobbies and lots more.

Not only does this allow our mums to keep a strong hold onto that identity that they so much want to find again after having children but it also allows a sense of connection within our community group which is what we have strived for since day one.

I hope by creating this virtual village it has given you a life line in your post partum journey.

This week we chat to local Mumma Jess Armstrong. Jess is a recent first time mum and has recently moved to the area.

Thank you Jess for taking part in Meet a Local Mumma and keeping our aim to connect local mums strong.

How Long have you lived in the area and why do you enjoy it?

We have Lived in the area for 5 months now and we like it because its quiet, everything we need is close by and its not too far from the highway for work.

How many children do you have and what are their name/s and ages if you wish to share?

We have one little boy Jackson, he’s two months old.

What’s your favourite beach or waterway?

Favourite beach so far is Cronulla but we havent gotten out much since moving here to be honest.

Favourite Local Cafe & Why?

The Harvest Ground at Penshurst. They serve a good coffee and big breakfast!

What are your wet weather plans?

Our wet weather plans are trying not to eat and binge watch television Haha

Are you a Working mum or a SAHM (Stay at home mum)? Tell us about your business if you’d like!

I’m currently on maternity leave until July.

What would you say is the biggest challenge of motherhood?

I think the biggest challenge of motherhood for me was the PPA (post Partum Anxiety) and being unable to walk after birth for the first 4 weeks. Everything else just feels so natural and light.

You’re standard on a desert island and you find a satellite phone, it has one bar battery. Who are you calling and why?

I would call search and rescue because hopefully they could somehow satellite track me and then I could speak to my loved ones after I had been rescued Haha

What would you say is the best part of motherhood?

The best part of motherhood is seeing my baby smile and just hearing him make any noise really.

What would you say keeps you sane while navigating motherhood?

Keeping as much routine as possible and being pre prepared helps keep me sane.

What are your interests / Hobbies?

My Interests and hobbies are fitness, eating, Disney, red wine and going out.

What is your idea of the perfect night out?

My perfect night out would be a nice dinner with drinks and a stage show or night markets.

What advice would you offer a fellow mum or first time mum?

My advice would be to not buy heaps of new baby clothes, luckily I didn’t buy too many but my baby was almost a 000 after being born so he was never going to fit the 00000 clothes I did buy.

Lastly, is there anything else you would like to share with us?

If there are any park meet ups with babies around the same age I would be interested in attending to meet people if the rain stops.
