We found one of the only Certified ESDM Therapists Right Here in Our Community—Discover How It Can Transform Your Child’s Life!

When it comes to supporting young children with autism, timing truly matters. Early intervention can be a game-changer—offering little ones the best possible start by tapping into the brain’s remarkable capacity to grow and adapt during the early years of life. But what does early intervention really look like? And how can it make a lasting impact on your child’s development? Whether you’re a parent navigating a new diagnosis or a professional seeking effective strategies, understanding the power of early support is the first step in shaping brighter futures.

One of the most well-researched and family-friendly approaches to early intervention is the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). Designed for children aged 12 to 48 months, ESDM is an evidence-based, play-based behavioural therapy that integrates developmental and relationship-based strategies to support children showing signs of autism or developmental delay. ESDM helps build essential skills across key developmental areas—such as social communication, cognition, imitation, and motor development—all through play. This engaging and natural approach supports children in reaching their full potential while making learning fun and meaningful.

What sets ESDM apart is its naturalistic style. Therapy takes place during everyday activities like playtime, meals, or shared routines. It doesn’t feel like a formal therapy session—instead, it’s embedded into the child’s world, fostering meaningful interactions and joyful engagement. ESDM can be delivered at home, in childcare, or through professional services. It’s highly individualised and responsive to each child’s strengths, interests, and developmental stage. The goal isn’t just to teach skills—it’s to build strong relationships, promote confidence, and support positive developmental outcomes.

Chloe Chui, one of the very few certified ESDM therapists in Sydney, founded Little Blossoms Therapy after seeing many families struggle in silence—unsure of how to support their child when developmental differences first emerged. “As parents, each day is a learning journey,” Chloe shares. “When a child shows signs of developmental delay (GDD) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Some families may have already begun speech or occupational therapy, only to find that it doesn’t fully meet their child’s needs.” Having worked with hundreds of families, Chloe is deeply committed to guiding parents from a place of uncertainty to one of confidence. Watching parents grow, connect with their child, and celebrate each milestone has been one of the most rewarding parts of her work. “This is why I founded Little Blossoms Therapy Services—to bridge the gap with a compassionate, individualised, and evidence-based approach to early intervention,” she says.

“Many people assume the first step is seeing a paediatrician. While a diagnosis can be helpful, paediatricians almost always recommend early intervention—specifically, ESDM therapy,” explains Chloe. “The challenge is that waitlists can be long, so securing a spot early is crucial. Taking that first step now can make all the difference when the time comes. There are not many certified ESDM therapists in Sydney, and I strive to provide families with specialised support tailored to their child’s development.”

Research shows that children who participate in ESDM can experience significant gains in language, cognitive abilities, social interaction, and adaptive skills. Importantly, the model also empowers parents and caregivers by equipping them with tools and strategies to support learning throughout everyday routines. One of the greatest strengths of ESDM is its emphasis on parent and educator involvement. Through preschool-based ESDM therapy and Parent-ESDM (P-ESDM) training programs, families are supported to become confident partners in their child’s development. Because parents spend the most time with their children, learning to implement strategies at home leads to more learning moments—and faster progress.

At Little Blossoms Therapy, sessions are offered in home, preschool, or school settings, allowing children to learn in environments where they feel most comfortable. This removes the stress of travel for families and ensures that therapy supports real-life learning, rather than being limited to a clinic setting.
