Rise & Shine in 2025: A Year of Innovation, Play & Excellence
2025 has been an incredible year for Rise & Shine Kindergarten, a year filled with innovation, connection, play and meaningful milestones. As a 100% family and Australian owned provider, we’re proud of our accomplishments we’ve made while continuing to nurture curiosity, imagination and a genuine love of learning.

Award-Winning Excellence
This year, Rise & Shine became the first early childhood provider to receive the Teachers’ Guild of NSW Excellence Award, recognising our commitment to innovation and inquiry-based learning through our Shine Advantage Curriculum. This honour reflects the passion and dedication of our educators who bring learning to life each and every day.Innovation in Action: Orbit Takes Flight
2025 also saw the exciting launch of our Orbit Mobile STEM Shuttle, officially opened with the support of our Brand Ambassador, Mary Fowler. Fully equipped with holograms, LEGO, engineering, telescopes, and coding stations, the Shuttle brings hands-on STEM learning to children across our centres, schools, and community events. With 39 Orbit excursions and 40 Science Week shows delivered, our Orbit team has inspired imagination and exploration across NSW and QLD.
Early to Excellence Program
We proudly introduced our Early to Excellence Program, building meaningful partnerships with local schools to further support our Transition to School Program. Through shared activities, reading groups, excursions, and Orbit experiences, children in our partner schools are engaging with exciting new STEM resources that spark curiosity and our Rise & Shine children are becoming more comfortable and prepared for their transition into Primary School.Care+ at the Heart
Care+, our personalised approach to care for infants and toddlers, remained a major focus in 2025. This year, we proudly hosted a dedicated Care+ Conference featuring RIE Associate Sharon Smith from New Zealand as our keynote speaker. Sharon also visited several of our services to provide hands-on support and mentorship, further strengthening our commitment to this care approach.
With ongoing guidance from our Operations team and our Curriculum & Practice Manager, our Care+ approach is something we deeply embed across our services. Together, our crew works to ensure every child and family feels supported, safe, valued and connected.
In 2025, we also reinforced our focus on safety by appointing a Group Safety Officer across our organisation, along with Centre Safety Officers in every service, ensuring a consistent and proactive approach to safety across all Rise & Shine communities.

Growing Together
On top of delivering our curriculum and programs within the services, this year we celebrated a number of highlights across our community, including:• Delivering over 2000 Soccer Joeys sessions
• 30 Kindy+ excursions took place and a refreshed Kindy+ Bus wrap

The Hidden Heroes Behind Your Child’s Confidence: The roles of Speech & OT Explained
If you ask any parent what they want for their child, the answers are usually simple: confidence, connection and happiness. Yet behind so many everyday moments like joining a playgroup, asking a question in class, expressing big feelings or trying something new there’s often a quiet, powerful support system at work.
This blog explores the essential role speech therapists and occupational therapists play in helping children grow. These hidden heros don’t just “fix sounds” or “help with handwriting.” They help children communicate their needs, understand and manage their emotions, engage meaningfully with the world around them and feel truly heard.
For families, they offer something just as important: clarity, hope and direction during times that can feel confusing or overwhelming. Together, they help create the foundations every child needs to thrive.
This is where the story of Bambini Health begins.

The Growing Need for Early Support
Many parents in our community have expressed similar stories, worrying that their child’s speech is a little unclear, that big emotions seem too overwhelming or that school isn’t clicking the way they hoped and they’re far from alone:
- 1 in 7 people have a communication disability and
- 20% of four-year-olds struggle to understand or use language.
When a child finds it hard to communicate, regulate or keep up with day-to-day expectations, it doesn’t just affect milestones. It can create frustration, impact learning, limit independence or leave them feeling left out.
But with early intervention and the right therapists these obstacles become opportunities for growth.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support and care provided by the team at Bambini Health. From the very beginning, they took the time to understand our child’s unique needs and worked with such patience, compassion, and professionalism.
Their sessions have made a real difference — not only in our child’s development, confidence and everyday independence, but also making me understand more on how to help my child whilst attending each lesson . We’ve seen meaningful progress, and it’s clear that their therapists genuinely care about their clients.
We highly recommend their services to any family needing occupational therapy support.” ~ Chrissie P.Walking Through the Doors of Bambini Health
Local Kingsgrove clinic Bambini Health supports children aged 0–18 with both speech pathology and occupational therapy, welcoming families into a space where therapy feels natural, playful and purposeful.
Parents often say the same thing when they first walk in:
“I didn’t realise how much these therapists actually do.”
What Speech Therapists Really Do: Giving Children a Voice
A speech therapist is so much more than someone who helps with pronunciation.
At Bambini Health, speech therapists guide children through the building blocks of communication teaching them how to understand language, express themselves speak clearly and engage with others. They support:
- Speech sounds and clear pronunciation
- Language understanding and expression
- Stuttering and fluency
- Early literacy (reading, writing, spelling)
- Play, social and communication skills
For many families, therapy looks like small, joyful moments, your child saying a new word, joining a conversation for the first time or proudly reading a sentence they once struggled with. These are the breakthroughs parents remember forever.
What Occupational Therapists Really Do:
Occupational therapists (OTs) help children master the skills that make everyday life run smoothly from getting dressed in the morning to focusing in class or handling emotions at home.
Bambini Health’s OTs work on:
- Sensory regulation (helping kids understand their bodies and environments)
- Emotional regulation (managing big feelings safely)
- Behaviour and social participation
- Attention, concentration and organisation
- Daily living and school-based skills, such as handwriting, scissor skills or independence
OTs often become the hidden heroes behind calmer mornings, happier school days and more confident children.
Therapy That Includes the Whole Family
One of the things Bambini parents mentioned most often is how involved they feel.
Therapists work closely with families to set meaningful goals, celebrate progress and make sure therapy strategies fit into real life not just the clinic room. Parent coaching is offered to help families understand their child’s needs and manage daily challenges with confidence.
Therapists also go beyond one-on-one sessions so the therapy doesn’t end at the clinic door: they support children in daycare, school and home environments, building connections with educators, health professionals and the wider community to ensure consistent, wrap-around support.
A Team Built on Care and Connection
Bambini Health isn’t just a clinic, it’s a community. Owner and Speech Pathologist Elisa Alberici and Occupational Therapist Sarah Gonsalves have built a space that feels warm, safe and welcoming for families and therapists alike, understanding firsthand the importance of staying current, continually learning and building strong communication with families.
Their team shares this passion, bringing energy, heart and dedication to every child they support aswell as education to parents.

The Bigger Picture: Why It Matters
Communication and developmental difficulties affect every corner of a child’s life, school, friendships, play, independence and their sense of self. Without support, these challenges can impact learning, social skills, academic performance and even emotional well-being.
But early intervention guided by skilled therapists can change the entire trajectory of a child’s future.
For Families Who Are Unsure Where to Start
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering, “Is this normal?” or “Should I be concerned?”, Bambini Health offers complimentary 15-minute phone consultations. These conversations help families understand their child’s needs and whether an assessment or therapy may be helpful.
Families can reach Bambini Health via their website or on Instagram and Facebook @bambinihealth.

Choosing the Right care for your Child: A Story of Heart, Faith and Montessori Magic with Over 40 Years of Trusted Childcare in Our Community
Choosing a childcare centre isn’t just another item on the family to-do list, it’s one of the most important decisions we make as parents. We’re not just looking for somewhere safe for our children to spend the day. We’re looking for a place where they will be understood, guided and genuinely loved… a place where their little personalities are nurtured, their curiosity encouraged and their hearts cared for.
For many families in the Beverly Hills and surrounding communities, that place is Beverly Hills Montessori Christian Early Learning Centre a centre with over 40 years of history, heart and unwavering dedication to children in the Georges River area.

A Centre with Deep Roots and a Deep Purpose
Established in 1983, Beverly Hills Montessori began as a small Montessori preschool licensed for just 19 children. It was founded on a passion for Montessori education and a strong Christian ethos, both inspired by Maria Montessori’s belief that children are not only physical and cognitive beings, but spiritual ones too.
Over the years, as local families’ needs evolved, so did the centre. It grew into a full Long Day Care service, expanded its programs, increased staff and built a reputation for excellence but one thing never changed: Children have always been, and will always be at the heart of everything.
Today, the centre welcomes 91 children each day, supported by a team of over 20 long-term, dedicated educators, many of whom have been with the centre for many years.
“I am so happy I found Beverly Hills Montessory Christian Preschool. My son started in Nursery at the age of 10 months and is now in the Preschool at the age of almost 4. He has absolutely flourished during his time here and I have seen him develop into a confident, smart and loving child which I believe has a lot to do with the teaching program here as well as the nurturing environment. Very grateful for BHMCP!” ~ Mitchel Spinola. Parent
And for many local mums, the most touching detail is the fact that Children who once attended Beverly Hills Montessori are now returning with their own children. A true reflection of a generational circle of trust.
Where Montessori Meets Christian Values
What truly sets this centre apart is its unique blend of authentic Montessori education and Christian teaching.
The Montessori Approach
Montessori is built on the belief that children grow best when they are free to explore within a structured, beautifully prepared environment. At Beverly Hills Montessori, children experience:
- Calm, orderly classrooms
- Self-directed learning
- Freedom within limits
- Purposeful materials designed for hands-on discovery
- Educators who guide, observe, and nurture rather than instruct from the front of the room
Children work at their own pace, gain independence, build concentration and develop confidence in who they are.
Christian Foundations
Christian values are woven into daily life in a natural, age-appropriate way:
- Prayer before meals
- Bible stories and songs
- Weekly “church time” (a gentle, child-friendly version of Sunday school)
- Celebrations of Christmas and Easter that honour their true Christian meaning
- Gentle spiritual conversations that meet each child where they are
The centre uses butterflies to symbolise new life at Easter and avoids Santa and the Easter Bunny, ensuring clarity and consistency in faith messages.
For families who want a strong moral and spiritual foundation for their children, this combination of Montessori and Christian values is deeply meaningful.

A Philosophy That Respects the Whole Child
The educators here believe children are driven by a natural passion for:
- Relationships
- Exploration
- Discovery
- Activity
- Purpose
Their role is to honour that curiosity through:
- Respectful, responsive relationships
- A safe and thoughtfully prepared environment
- Encouragement of independence and decision-making
- Opportunities to problem-solve and explore without fear
- Warm, loving adults who provide the emotional security every child needs
The result is an environment where children feel valued, understood and free to grow into themselves.
Programs Rooted in Research and Heart
0–3 Years: The Foundations of Life
Maria Montessori devoted much of her work to the earliest years of life. Beverly Hills Montessori continues this tradition through a program designed around:
- The Absorbent Mind
- Sensitive Periods
- The Prepared Environment
Children experience:
- Practical life activities
- Hand-eye coordination exercises
- Early literacy exposure
- Art, music, and movement
- Language enrichment
- Opportunities for independence at every level

3–6 Years: Purposeful Exploration
This program includes:
- School readiness preparation
- Cultural studies (biology, geography, history, science, art, music)
- Authentic Montessori materials
- Social development through collaborative work
- Independence-building through responsibility and choice
Children leave the centre confident, capable, and typically excelling in their transition to school.
A Community of Families, Not Just a Service
One of the most beautiful things about Beverly Hills Montessori is the sense of community. The centre encourages:
- Active parent involvement
- Strong relationships between families and educators
- Continuity and stability
- Understanding and respect for every family’s culture and values
Seasonal celebrations particularly Christian Christmas and Easter events bring families together, creating memories that last.
Why Parents Choose Beverly Hills Montessori
For many parents, it comes down to this:
They want their child to be somewhere they feel safe, loved and deeply understood and that’s exactly what this centre delivers.
Add to that:
- Long-term, passionate educators
- A unique Montessori–Christian approach
- Genuine community
- A beautiful, calm environment
- Proven outcomes (children thrive when they start school)
- Over 40 years of trusted service
…and it’s easy to see why local families continue to choose Beverly Hills Montessori generation after generation.

Finding the Right Puppy for Your Family: Why the story behind Harbour Valley Cavoodles will make the decision simple!
When the dream of a puppy begins, it often starts with a child’s hopeful request at the dinner table with the wide-eyed question of “Can we get a dog?” or perhaps with a parent reminiscing about the faithful companion they grew up with. Suddenly, memories come rushing back: the sound of paws racing across the yard during backyard cricket or the way a dog would curl up at the end of a bed, keeping lonely nights a little less quiet. Families begin to imagine the laughter that comes with a wagging tail, the gentle weight of soft paws nestled on the couch during movie nights and the unspoken comfort of a loyal friend who is there through scraped knees, birthday parties and quiet Sunday mornings. In those daydreams, the puppy isn’t just a pet, they’re part of the family’s story waiting to be written.

The idea of a puppy usually lingers long after that first conversation but the seed is planted. Parents begin to wonder: Are we ready? Is this the right time? The children talk endlessly about names and imagine adventures with a new four-legged best friend. Suddenly, the family finds themselves looking at dog breeds online late at night, scrolling through photos and picturing which one would fit into their home and hearts.
At first, the choice feels simple, just ‘find a cute puppy‘. But soon, questions begin to surface. Will this breed suit our lifestyle? Are they good with children? Will they shed everywhere? More importantly: How do we make sure we find a puppy who is healthy, happy and truly ready for family life?
That’s when the search for a breeder begins. It’s not just about finding a dog anymore, it’s about finding the right dog. Families quickly learn there’s a big difference between someone selling puppies and a breeder who raises them with care. The more they read, the clearer it becomes: the foundation of their future family dog depends on the very first weeks of their life.
”Harbour Valley Cavoodles & Theodores put so much effort into ensuring their puppies are healthy, well-socialized, and ready to settle into their new homes. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful companion, and we are so thankful for the care and dedication that went into giving us our girl.” ~ Natalie P
And so, with a mixture of excitement and nerves, they reach out to a breeder who feels different. Not just a business, but a family. A breeder who talks not only about the puppies’ adorable curls and playful personalities, but also about health testing, early socialisation and giving each puppy the very best start. Suddenly, the idea of “buying a dog” transforms into something much deeper.
The family imagines the day they’ll finally meet their puppy. The children will kneel down on the grass, squealing with joy as a curious bundle of fluff bounces towards them. The parents will watch, hearts full, knowing all the careful research, the waiting and the thoughtful choice was worth it. Because this isn’t just the start of having a pet it’s the beginning of a lifelong bond, built on love and trust, with a foundation as strong as family itself.

Why Chose a Cavoodle
The more they researched family friendly dogs, the more one breed kept standing out: the Cavoodle. Intentionally bred to combine the desirable traits of each breed they are a perfect balance of the affectionate Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the intelligent, low-shedding, hypo allergenic Poodle, Cavoodles are gentle, loyal and adaptable, everything a family could ask for. Their playful nature makes them the ideal companions for children, while their calm temperament means they settle easily into the quieter moments of family life. With coats that are soft, low-shedding and allergy-friendly, Cavoodles become part of the household with lots of cuddles without the sneeze! Gone are the days of a house full of dog hair!
Like most parents, the decision was easy: a Cavoodle would be the perfect addition to their story.
Finding the Right Beginning
Still, the family knew that even the perfect breed needed the right start. That’s where Harbour Valley Cavoodles & Theodores made all the difference. From the very first conversation with owner Emma, it was clear this wasn’t just a breeder this was a family who loved and nurtured each puppy as one of their own.
The puppies weren’t raised in kennels or sheds. They were born in the family home, surrounded by warmth, gentle voices and the everyday sounds of household life. Harbour Valley Cavoodles & Theodores follow a proven curriculum of early neurological stimulation, enrichment activities and careful socialisation so that every puppy grows into a confident, resilient companion.
As MDBA registered breeders and part of the Theodore Breeding in Development program, Emma’s commitment to ethical practices was backed by trusted recognition. It was clear, their puppies weren’t just adorable, they were health-tested, curriculum-raised and prepared for exactly the kind of family life this household dreamed of.
The Day Everything Changed
Finally, the day arrived. The family walked into the yard, nerves and excitement bubbling in equal measure. The children crouched low, eyes wide, as a tiny Cavoodle bounded toward them with all the joy in the world. In that instant, every doubt melted away.
The parents watched, hearts full, knowing all the careful research, the waiting, and the thoughtful choice had brought them to this moment. They weren’t just bringing home a puppy, they were bringing home a new chapter of their family’s story.

The Story Continues at Home
For the many families who have taken a Harbour Valley puppy home, the story doesn’t end at the door. In many ways, it was just beginning.
There are the firsts — the first night snuggled into a soft bed, the first game of fetch in the backyard, the first time a puppy curls up next to a child after a long day at school and when questions arise, as they always do from toilet training hiccups to advice on socialisation you quickly learn your’re not alone. The Harbour Valley team is only ever a message away, offering guidance, encouragement and reassurance. Setting Harbour Valley Cavoodles & Theodores apart from any other breeder.
It’s no wonder that The Dogs Journal named Harbour Valley Cavoodles & Theodores one of Australia’s top Cavoodle breeders in both 2024 and 2025, and are proudly RightPaw verified. For families, these recognitions aren’t just badges of honour, they’re symbols of trust.
Because when you choose an ethical breeder, you’re not just bringing home a puppy. You’re bringing home a lifetime of joy, support and memories waiting to unfold.
And one day, years from now, when your children sit around the dinner table reminiscing about the dog who grew up beside them, you’ll know you made the right choice, a choice that began with love and a breeder who understood that puppies are not just pets, but family.
”Romes became part of our family just over 2 years ago, he is absolutely amazing & has his own personality & living his best spoilt life ever. Emma was the best with giving us professional knowledge as we never had a puppy in our home. He has bonded to our family of four & surprisingly knows my teenagers cars when they pull up in the drive way. Romes loves his night cuddles 🥰 best little man ever.
If I had the time for another pup Emma is my absolute go to.” ~ Brenda RThe heart of it all
For Emma, what began as a deep love of dogs quickly grew into something bigger: a passion for raising healthy, confident and well-tempered puppies that could thrive in family homes. Harbour Valley Cavoodle’s & Theodore’s became more than just a breeder — it became a family-run sanctuary.
For parents however, choosing a Cavoodle from Harbour Valley Cavoodle’s & Theodore’s isn’t just about ticking boxes of health and training. It’s about giving their children the same joy they once experienced the joy of growing up with a dog who feels like family with the reassurance that their new best friend is happy & healthy.
Because at the end of the day, in this technology heavy world a family dog is more than a pet. They’re the reason children spend more time outdoors and when that dog comes from the right breeder, the memories you create are built on love, not worry.
Your Family’s Next Chapter
So, when you imagine your family’s story with a dog in it, what do you see? A best friend for the kids? A walking buddy for Saturday mornings? A gentle presence on the couch at the end of a long day? No matter what your story looks like If your family is ready to start the next chapter with a Cavoodle or Theodore, there is no better place to begin than Harbour Valley Cavoodle’s & Theodore’s, so If you would like to have a chat regarding availability or to join the waitlist you can reach Emma via:

For Too Long, Women’s Health Has Come Second!
For far too long, women’s health has been sidelined. Mothers have been taught to put their families first and themselves last. Conversations around women’s health concerns such as pelvic organ prolapse or period pain were often dismissed or silenced. Symptoms like leaking with a cough or a sneeze were brushed off as “normal” after having a baby or with ageing.
But things are changing.
Women are finally reclaiming their health and putting themselves first. It’s a powerful shift and Emma is beyond excited to be a part of it. Now, women are not just managing symptoms that were once ignored, but they’re also preventing them. With services available during pregnancy, postnatal recovery and beyond, women have the opportunity to seek care before symptoms arise, paving the way for healthier lives.

That’s why Femme Space offers a refreshing alternative to traditional healthcare settings, delivering care in an environment where women feel supported and understood.
“Emma is such a lovely soul and I couldn’t recommend her more – the perfect balance of professional and personal.

We found one of the only Certified ESDM Therapists Right Here in Our Community—Discover How It Can Transform Your Child’s Life!
When it comes to supporting young children with autism, timing truly matters. Early intervention can be a game-changer—offering little ones the best possible start by tapping into the brain’s remarkable capacity to grow and adapt during the early years of life. But what does early intervention really look like? And how can it make a lasting impact on your child’s development? Whether you’re a parent navigating a new diagnosis or a professional seeking effective strategies, understanding the power of early support is the first step in shaping brighter futures.

One of the most well-researched and family-friendly approaches to early intervention is the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). Designed for children aged 12 to 48 months, ESDM is an evidence-based, play-based behavioural therapy that integrates developmental and relationship-based strategies to support children showing signs of autism or developmental delay. ESDM helps build essential skills across key developmental areas—such as social communication, cognition, imitation, and motor development—all through play. This engaging and natural approach supports children in reaching their full potential while making learning fun and meaningful.
What sets ESDM apart is its naturalistic style. Therapy takes place during everyday activities like playtime, meals, or shared routines. It doesn’t feel like a formal therapy session—instead, it’s embedded into the child’s world, fostering meaningful interactions and joyful engagement. ESDM can be delivered at home, in childcare, or through professional services. It’s highly individualised and responsive to each child’s strengths, interests, and developmental stage. The goal isn’t just to teach skills—it’s to build strong relationships, promote confidence, and support positive developmental outcomes.

Chloe Chui, one of the very few certified ESDM therapists in Sydney, founded Little Blossoms Therapy after seeing many families struggle in silence—unsure of how to support their child when developmental differences first emerged. “As parents, each day is a learning journey,” Chloe shares. “When a child shows signs of developmental delay (GDD) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Some families may have already begun speech or occupational therapy, only to find that it doesn’t fully meet their child’s needs.” Having worked with hundreds of families, Chloe is deeply committed to guiding parents from a place of uncertainty to one of confidence. Watching parents grow, connect with their child, and celebrate each milestone has been one of the most rewarding parts of her work. “This is why I founded Little Blossoms Therapy Services—to bridge the gap with a compassionate, individualised, and evidence-based approach to early intervention,” she says.
“Many people assume the first step is seeing a paediatrician. While a diagnosis can be helpful, paediatricians almost always recommend early intervention—specifically, ESDM therapy,” explains Chloe. “The challenge is that waitlists can be long, so securing a spot early is crucial. Taking that first step now can make all the difference when the time comes. There are not many certified ESDM therapists in Sydney, and I strive to provide families with specialised support tailored to their child’s development.”
Research shows that children who participate in ESDM can experience significant gains in language, cognitive abilities, social interaction, and adaptive skills. Importantly, the model also empowers parents and caregivers by equipping them with tools and strategies to support learning throughout everyday routines. One of the greatest strengths of ESDM is its emphasis on parent and educator involvement. Through preschool-based ESDM therapy and Parent-ESDM (P-ESDM) training programs, families are supported to become confident partners in their child’s development. Because parents spend the most time with their children, learning to implement strategies at home leads to more learning moments—and faster progress.

At Little Blossoms Therapy, sessions are offered in home, preschool, or school settings, allowing children to learn in environments where they feel most comfortable. This removes the stress of travel for families and ensures that therapy supports real-life learning, rather than being limited to a clinic setting.
Other services also on offer at Little Blossoms Therapy –
Preschool Behaviour Therapy – Supporting children in co-regulation, following
instructions, group participation, and functional play with peers while advising teaching
staff on behavioural strategies to support children’s development.
Westmead Feelings Program – Teaching children to recognise intensity of different
emotions, develop self-regulation skills, understand social cues, and enhance problem-
solving abilities.
Parent-EDSM (P-ESDM) or Project ImPACT Parent Training – Equipping parents with the
knowledge and strategies to support their child’s development at home.
If you would like to have a confidential discussion with Chloe to see how ESDM may benefit your family you can contact her via her website at www.littleblossomstherapy.com.au or Instagram: Littleblossoms_TherapyServices

Unlocking Potential, Changing Lives: The Story of Learning Links
Since 1972, Learning Links has been a beacon of hope for children with learning
difficulties and disabilities, empowering them to overcome challenges and thrive. As a not-for-profit organisation, their team is dedicated to creating opportunities for every child to realise their full potential, no matter the obstacles they face. Through tailored support, innovative programs, and a passionate team, Learning Links partners with families, schools, and communities to build brighter futures. They have proudly made a difference for over 50 years, one child, one family, one success story at a time.
It’s natural for parents to question their child’s learning and development. At times, concerns are raised by the school; other times, challenges may be more
apparent—or they might go unnoticed, manifesting in subtle ways. Many parents find themselves wondering if they are doing enough to support their children, worry if they’re facing unseen struggles, or questioning whether they’re reaching their full potential.
Learning Links was born from the dedication of concerned parents just like you who united to address the pressing need for appropriate education and support for children with learning disabilities. Recognising the lack of adequate services, these parents championed awareness, advocacy, and understanding of their children’s unique needs. Their collective efforts paved the way for improved, high-quality support systems that continue to make a difference today.
The Peakhurst Learning Centre is home to a dedicated multidisciplinary team of child psychologists, speech pathologists, education specialists and early childhood educators. Together, they provide a comprehensive range of evidence-based, personalised services, available both in-person and online. Learning Links educators pride themselves on their collaborative mission to empower children to grow, learn, and thrive by building confidence, enhancing social skills, fostering a love for learning, and equipping them with the resilience to navigate life’s challenges.
It was found that a multidisciplinary model was key to enabling skill development, not just with learning, but also with communication, wellbeing and functional skills. You will also find a number of programs and resources that build the capacity of parents and carers to provide support in the home and put strategies in place to manage your own mental health and wellbeing.
It’s a disconcerting reality that, even 50 years later, many children struggling with learning challenges still do not receive the support they need and deserve.
However, there is hope, Learning Links is committed to driving meaningful change and providing vital support for children, recognising the ongoing challenge that up to 15% of young learners face learning difficulties or disabilities. The long-term impact of these challenges can be profound and far-reaching if not addressed early.“We are enrolled with preschool services and the staff, program and resources have been amazing. Our child’s confidence and knowledge has grown in leaps and bounds” ~ Adam
Research shows that children with learning difficulties often progress at half the rate of their peers, with the gap in achievement widening significantly as they grow.
Children with learning disabilities face significant challenges, including a heightened risk of depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, decreased motivation, social isolation bullying, and even future unemployment. These difficulties can lead to a cycle of negative outcomes, impacting not just their education but their overall well-being and future opportunities. Despite the wide scale of this issue, financial assistance for families navigating these challenges remains limited. Learning Links is dedicated to breaking this cycle by rallying community support and delivering targeted therapies that empower children to overcome barriers, unlock their potential, and thrive in all aspects of life. It’s this commitment that makes them leaders in their field.
Learning Links have changed thousands of lives for the better, supporting almost 7,000 children and adolescents every year through their centre and school-based programs.
When you first engage with Learning Links, you’ll immediately notice their family- centred approach, which places a strong emphasis on understanding and nurturing each child’s unique strengths, needs, motivations, and interests. Their targeted and tailored support for children with a strength-based approach has been a point of difference for many local families.
By collaborating closely with parents, professionals, and schools, Learning Links
ensures that children receive comprehensive support—both at home and within their early learning environments or schools, as well as through any other services they access. This holistic approach ensures that every child is empowered to thrive in all areas of their life.
The passion driving Learning Links is undeniably the cornerstone of its success.
From its humble beginnings, the organisation has grown into one of Sydney’s
leading experts in delivering high-quality, evidence-based support across six centres and various learning environments. By integrating multiple disciplines—such as speech and language therapy, psychological and educational support—Learning Links empowers children to reach their full potential. The organisation works closely with families and professionals, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to foster a community where learning difficulties no longer stand in the way of a fulfilling life.

Bringing Clarity to Our Community: Meet Your New Go-To Optometrist – Penshurst Eyecare!
Finding the right optometrist is essential for maintaining healthy vision and residents of the Georges River area now have a trusted new eye care provider. Penshurst Eyecare is proud to bring expert eye care, advanced technology and personalised service to the local community. Whether you need a routine eye exam, paediatric care or the latest in eyewear, the team at Penshurst Eyecare is dedicated to ensuring you and your family see the world with clarity and confidence.
Meet the Founders: Leo & Reynold
Founders Leo and Reynold have been friends for over 10 years, sharing a passion for healthcare. Initially, optometry wasn’t at the forefront of their minds (they were encouraged to pursue medicine!), but they followed their hearts and never looked back. After completing their optometry degrees, they gained experience across both corporate and independent optometry settings—working in schools, shelters and communities across NSW, from Wollongong to Byron Bay.
Observing how different practices operated, they decided to open Penshurst Eyecare, a clinic where they could provide care their way—with a focus on patient education, cutting-edge technology, and a personalised approach.

Why Regular Eye Exams Matter
Many eye conditions, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, develop silently in their early stages. By the time symptoms become noticeable, irreversible damage may have already occurred. At Penshurst Eyecare, state-of-the-art diagnostic technology is used to detect eye conditions early and provide the best possible care.
Children’s eye health is also a growing concern, especially with increased screen time. One in four children has an undetected vision problem, yet 30% of Australian children have never had an eye examination. Vision problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism can develop gradually and can significantly impact learning, concentration, and even sports performance. With 80% of classroom learning being visual, poor eyesight can be the hidden reason why a child struggles in school.
Regular eye exams help catch these issues early—setting children up for academic success, improved coordination, and greater confidence, while giving parents peace of mind.
“My children had an eyetest with Leo and they loved the experience! He was able to give them glasses that made homework and learning so much easier . I’ve also noticed a change in their behaviour! He’s care and dedication to my children was remarkable. My kids love wearing their new frame and can’t wait for her follow up appointment. I can’t recommended Leo and the team enough” ~ Nancy. S
Investing in Eye Care = Investing in Well-being
Good vision enhances quality of life, and early detection of eye conditions can prevent long-term vision impairment. Penshurst Eyecare prioritises patient education and customised treatment plans to ensure that every individual receives the best possible care.

Unlocking Voices: Get ready for a new face in Speech Pathology
Imagine the joy of a child saying their first clear word or an adult regaining their ability to communicate after an illness. Speech pathology isn’t just a field; it’s a lifeline that transforms lives, restoring connections and building confidence in ways that truly matter.

As a speech pathologist, local mum Anikka was driven by a deep passion for helping individuals overcome the challenges they face in communication. Believing that effective communication is fundamental to building meaningful relationships, achieving personal goals, and participating fully in society. By working with individuals of all ages, Anikka is able to make a direct impact on her clients lives—whether it’s helping a child with speech delays, supporting an adult recovering from a stroke, or assisting someone with a stutter to express themselves with confidence. Anikka is dedicated to understanding each person’s unique needs and is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers them to find their voice and live their best life.
Anikka’s passion has now come to life with the opening of Unified Speech Pathology in January 2025, a state-of-the-art speech pathology clinic dedicated to helping individuals of all ages find their voice across the lifespan. Located in Penshurst in the heart of the Georges River, this new clinic combines cutting-edge technology with a compassionate, personalised approach to care with a team of experienced and compassionate speech pathologists, who are committed to providing personalised, evidence-based care to help clients achieve their communication goals. Whether it’s overcoming speech delays, navigating communication challenges due to injury, or addressing fluency issues, Anikka and her team of experienced therapists are dedicated to support every step of the journey.
“Anikka’s passion for speech therapy drives her commitment to delivering personalised, high-quality care tailored to each client’s unique needs. Dedicated to helping individuals achieve their communication goals, no matter where they are”.
It really is made evident that investing in speech therapy is essential because it helps individuals overcome communication barriers that can impact various areas of their life and when those barriers are overcome the freedom brought with it is why Anikka believes that you are investing into a brighter future. For example, a child struggling with speech delays may find it difficult to keep up in school, while an adult with a voice disorder may face challenges in their professional life. Additionally, individuals with autism or learning disabilities can benefit from therapy to improve their social communication skills and interactions. By investing in speech therapy, clients can enhance their ability to express themselves, build stronger relationships, and achieve greater success in both personal and professional settings. This investment not only addresses current challenges but also provides long-lasting benefits for improved confidence and overall well-being.

What sets Unified Speech Pathology apart is the flexibility and accessibility of the services offered, including in-clinic, mobile, and telehealth options. By providing therapy in multiple formats, Anikka wishes to ensure that individuals can receive the care they need, whether it’s from the comfort of their home, at a convenient location, or in our welcoming clinic environment. This flexible approach opens Unified Speech Pathology up to reach a wider range of clients, including those of us with busy schedules or mobility challenges, ensuring therapy is accessible to all.
Welcome to your new go to space where voices grow stronger, words come to life, and stories are shared with confidence.
