Small group tutoring shining the light on discerned parents left in the dark.
When it comes to our children’s education we devote ourselves to those precious years at school putting everything we have into watching our children flourish. However sometimes this is not the case and we may be left feeling a little left in the dark when it comes to our children’s performance and ability.

Many parents may find themselves feeling a little overwhelmed and somewhat lost and may begin to seek alternative methods to assist with their concerns, help students help themselves, or to assist or guide children to the point at which they become an independent learner. This is where we may look into the small group session approach of a private tutor.
By providing continuous positive reinforcement from private tutoring it can be beneficial for self-esteem and as a result, children become more active and participative in school and as parents we can be reassured that they have taken a step in the right direction, finally sleeping better at night.
However, It can sometimes be a challenging time to navigate but at Global Education Academy, an exclusive tutoring Centre in Kogarah who are dedicated to connecting parents in an elite community and delivering the clarity they need and deserve when it comes to their child’s performance and potential.
With the correct support it can help children to become more confident and also help discerning parents feel more connected to their child’s ability.
“I couldn’t be happier with Global Education Academy and the work my daughter is completing. She is continuously improving and very engaged, which is incredibly pleasing to see as a parent. I would happily recommend the GEA courses to anyone, and the staff are very supportive and approachable.” ~ Katie Moor
With exclusive access to an elite learning community, families experience high-value connections through shared perspectives and premium experiences while supporting Global Education Academy’s global movement to lead the way in explicit learning and fund education for those less fortunate.
With GEA’s vision to be the visionary Global Learning Movement connecting an elite community and leading the way in explicit learning globally the shift in one on one learning is occurring and our local community are reaping the rewards. Priding themselves on making a difference every day by specialising in changing the way children are taught to understand, think and learn by empowering teachers to teach differently through a structured curriculum, the Five-C Method™ and the UPSL™ Strategy.

When approaching GEA as a discerning parent, you will notice that due to GEA’s evidence based learning approach it gives a true point of difference to their approach to learning. Empowering their students with the ability to change the way they are taught to understand, think and learn for life. High-quality teachers deliver an award-winning structured curriculum across core subjects and unique problem-solving UPSL™ Strategy through GEA’s Five-C Method™, students thrive by unlocking a world of confidence and possibilities.
From humble beginnings, Global Education Academy opened their doors to only a handful of students back in 2011, however can now boast they have not only touched the lives of those they have supported but can take claim of having changed the lives of thousands of students, and continue to do so each day.
“Professional teachers. Very friendly & accommodating. Kids always come out smiling, after 2hrs, even on Saturdays, and can’t wait to go back the next week. Highly recommend!” ~ Tracey Steele
By delivering award winning tutoring at their two campuses, Kogarah and Turramurra and online, tutoring is offered to Kindy to Year 12 in maths and English as well as preparation for OC, Selective, Scholarship, NAPLAN, and ICAS tests.
Not all learning centres are equal and with GEA’s Structured curriculum developed completely in-house which aligns with the Australian curriculum, their dedication to small groups (max. 8 students), a strong focus on creating independent thinkers and problem solvers it makes learning at GEA a truly rewarding experience.
Not only do GEA make their students a priority but also understand the way in which an education can change the life of any individual and provide them opportunities they would otherwise never be given. Recognising the lack of education provided to students in Africa, especially girls, GEA wanted to help change this and therefore have dedicate themselves to improving lives of the less fortunate by contributing to funding education for those less fortunate in our community and globally, proudly supporting the One Girl organisation. A charity devoted to empowering women through education.
In response to the shocking statistic that more than 130 million girls around the globe are not in school because of their gender, One Girl is on a mission to reduce this figure one girl at a time. They provide books, bags and uniforms, pay fees and offer social support and mentor programs to not only put girls in school, but help them get the most out of their time there.
So not only can you support your own Childs education you can rest easy knowing that GEA is a proud business for good: with every enrolment contributing towards school fees to enable girls in Uganda and Sierra Leone to attend school and further offering full scholarships to local at-risk children and regularly contributing to local fundraisers.
At Global Education Academy your children are in good hands.

How this Local business is simplifying the way you consume power for a greener future.
It’s a known fact that Solar energy creates pure, clean, and renewable power from the sun, making it the perfect alternative to fossil fuels, such as natural gas and coal whilst also reducing carbon footprint and greenhouse gases worldwide.
Therefore while solar energy is not only sustainable, renewable, and plentiful it is really no shock to learn that over 3 million Australian homes now have solar installed.
If making the switch to solar to gain more control over your electricity is something that you have considered, especially with living expenses on the rise then local business Envirosmart Electrical is helping to make the switch to solar achievable for Australian families.

A small family owned electrical contracting company specialising in solar and battery installations in both residential and commercial projects, Envirosmart Electrical are leading the way in renewable energy with their vision to create a sustainable future by changing the way Australian families consume power.
With over 8 years experience in the Solar industry, Director and lead installer, Jeremy is passionate about renewable energy and the role this plays in helping our environment and the government’s goal of achieving carbon net zero.
Happily stepping up to any challenge, Jeremy and his team admit they love it when something like a well shaded roof presents itself to them which will require a smart solution to help reduce customer bills and ultimately save money.
“Jeremy and the team at Envirosmart Electrical were extremely fast with installation. They were efficient, and ensured no damage was done to my new house. Jeremy took the time to explain the system (and app) to me and how to best utilise it through change of appliances, when to wash clothes, use the dishwasher etc. This really helped me understand the perks of solar. The system works great and I can’t recommend Envirosmart electrical highly enough!!” ~ Lauren Smith
Taking claim as being 1 of 100 installers in Australia that is CEC approved to design and install off grid solar projects & a Fronius Solutions Partner, Envirosmart Electrical is really making their mark on the map.
Envirosmarts experience so far has also allowed Jeremy to gain valuable data from existing customer systems to further understand the efficiencies of different panel and inverter manufacturers. From this, Jeremy and his team have been able to educate customers on the differences between panel/inverter manufacturers and which one would be suitable to their needs.

By recognising solar as a service and not a product Jeremy and his team aim to build relationships with their customers by being there from first consultation all the way to post installation. You will notice when engaging Envirosmart how they conduct a site inspection prior to acceptance of any works. Ensuring that the system quoted will work at the property and ultimately ticks all the boxes, allowing you as the customer to have total confidence that your investment is the right one. Gone are the days of all you hear is birds chirping until a quote is accepted and a deposit is paid.
The Envirosmart team pride themselves on being there for their customers every step of the way including technical support which is all provided in-house. They stand proud that nothing is out-sourced.
“We love the fact that the right solar system can have one of the highest ROI in a short period of time“. ~ Envirosmart Electrical
To show they are passionate about what they do and “practice what they preach”, Envirosmart only use suppliers that also have solar installed and can generate 90% of their own electricity.
There really is no better time to invest into solar and our future generations. Solar energy is the perfect example of a renewable energy source. It is powered by the heat and light of the sun, a resource that will never run out. It is free, sustainable and completely inexhaustible. This energy can be converted into electricity or used to heat air or water. However, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the technical information out there, you’re not alone. It’s hard to know where to begin and that’s why Jeremy and his team have dedicated themselves not only to a sustainable future but also to his customers and making the switch simple.”

Not just another dance class! How babyballet Peakhurst is setting our little ones up for big things!
Taking its claim as an award winning dance studio, babyballet Peakhurst loves to make learning to dance an unforgettable and magical experience for both mum and Bub.
Located in Peakhurst in Sydney, babyballet is an international brand and dance program providing award-winning preschool dance classes that have been developed with the developmental needs of young students in mind and introduces them to dance in a way that can lead to more structured classes.

After many years of running their own successful preschool program, Rogerson Dance studio owners decided they would look into all of the new programs entering the market to see if there was something more they could offer their students. After much research it was found that the international brand babyballet aligned with the values already being used in the main studio and with that brought the award winning program to our doorstep.

babyballet has now been a successful offering to the local community for 5 years, witnessing students forming the foundations to move onto more structured programs quite easily thanks to this all inclusive program. Since moving into their new smaller, more intimate studio in Peakhurst it was found that younger students engage better by creating a more focused learning environment.
Despite the separate studio younger students are still allowed the opportunity to engage with the older students and watch them perform in the way of dropping in for visits or by attending a cushion concert at the main studio in Stanley Street.
“Olivia has totally fallen in love with babyballet. She’s only 2 but already I can see the classes are bringing her on with her development. Her motor skills are getting better every week and she’s making lots of new friends. We both look forward to babyballet. It’s our favourite day of the week!” ~ Harriet, mum to Olivia.
With the belief that you are never too young to learn to dance, qualified and welcoming teachers allow each child to flourish at their own pace by learning through play in their own unique way. Having fun and making friends is all part of the experience at babyballet. Specifically designed to teach children aged from six months to six years the fundamentals of ballet technique by following instructions from different people as well as developing fine and gross motor skills and musicality through interactive and engaging activities. All babyballet stars are given the chance to dance, shine, have fun and develop key life skills.
The babyballet syllabus has four stages to progress through as well as also offering a tap dancing class for children over 3 years. Students also respond well to the interactive characters Twinkle and Teddy which help to make the brand more relatable for the younger students as well as helping to bring the syllabus to life.
While all infant and pre school classes are fun and exciting they are also linked to the Australian Early Years Learning Framework, ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’. Making classes so much more than just a dance class. The educational, physical and social aspects of the classes make the babyballet program the perfect preschool activity choice to develop essential skills prior to school.
All teachers undergo specific babyballet training and with professional dance and teaching experience they strive to create a fun, friendly and inclusive experience for everyone – no matter what your child’s age or ability. babyballet classes are also a great way for parents and carers to meet up and make new friends too, making babyballet an all inclusive community.

babyballet is not just another dance class and if dance classes are not enough for your budding dancer babyballet also offers babyballet birthday parties making this the ideal way to celebrate your little ones special day.
With a range of themed parties to choose from, including ballerina, superhero and disco party themes, a babyballet party is an original and fun way to celebrate. Children not only learn to dance, but there is also a range of party activities and things to do with kids including face painting and dressing up. babyballet party leaders will entertain the children so you get a chance to enjoy the birthday celebrations with family and friends.
So if you want to embrace dance for your little one it really is vital to nurture their growth from the day they start. They need to be able to focus and receive undivided attention in an environment designed for development to ensure they are gaining the most out of every class and at babyballet Peakhurst they are doing just that.
If you would like to try babyballet Peakhurst for yourself Studio owners are generously offering a weeks free trial to experience it for yourself.

It is the joy of watching elite students achieve and go on to dance in professional companies both here and overseas but also its the joy of watching a little girl who couldn’t do something go on to master the skill she found a challenge or even the child who was shy and wouldn’t talk, stand tall and get onstage at the end of the year“.

As a student, competitions and eisteddfods are an exciting time to be on stage and to perform for parents, relatives and friends. It truly is a time to shine.
At Rogerson Dance studio it is believed that through strength and support of one another, dancers have the opportunity to grow with the studio until they graduate high school. No Matter how big or how small the dancers’ dreams are, they are collaboratively worked towards to make them a reality.

As a studio, Rogerson’s aim is to create a community where the current seniors and former students act as mentors and encourage the juniors to strive for excellence in dance. Find out why this local personal trainer has everyone asking themselves why they didn’t start sooner.
I don’t feel like I woke up one day and decided today I’m going to change my life, it was moreso a series of events that led me to focus on my health and regain some of the person that I once was, AKA pre children.

My starting point began with my diet. After two babies and a health scare I was told that if I didn’t make a change I was heading down a scary path. Thinking back I didn’t have the worst diet, I cooked at home I ate my veggies and I didn’t drink a lot or smoke, my main issue was not understanding what my body could and couldn’t tolerate which in fact was contributing to much more than I understood at the time. My body was retaining an enormous amount of inflammation and this is where I focused first.
I won’t lie it was quite overwhelming at first but once I had the correct tests and started to form a routine and educate myself on how the body works and what diet does to it, it started to click and become easier.
The next step in my journey was moving my body, I decided a gentle approach after so long was the best way to introduce movement back into my routine. Then after months of gentle movement I started to crave more. My body was starting to feel great and more flexible. However my body didn’t feel strong and my weight loss had plateaued.

This is when I reached out to Mathew Baldwin Personal Training. A local Personal training Service located in Peakhurst that is dedicated purely on building, developing and enhancing the health and wellbeing of individuals who attend training sessions.
“Mat has been a great PT, supporting my objectives and I can see continual improvement in my strength goals. Each training session is challenging but rewarding” ~ Marina T
Mat’s main offering is group based strength and conditioning training sessions designed to help and improve all levels of fitness from beginners to advanced trainers and ages. Mats passion and love for personal training is evident, stating he genuinely loves seeing people gain confidence through his strength training group sessions and achieve the results they are working towards.
Having been in the industry for eighteen years Mat has worked with many levels of fitness and experienced many breakthroughs. I have found Mat to be highly experienced within the industry and with a vast knowledge when it comes to strength training that he incorporates into his programs. Especially when it comes to women who are starting from scratch. His desire for growth and developing his skill set to enhance his knowledge to then grow and enhance the experience for each and everyone of his clients is what made all the difference when it came to choosing Mat as my trainer.
The first thing I noticed at my first group session was how approachable, motivating, encouraging, supportive, open and friendly the environment was. There was a range of ages and fitness levels. My first session was chatty and I made friends instantly which made all the difference for me. There is no ego just simple hard work and fun in a friendly and safe environment to suit everyone from teenagers to the elderly, there is always an option to every movement to get YOU the best results.
“Mat is a very good trainer. He always encourages me each session to push harder to reach new goals. I have more enthusiasm for fitness” ~ Rebecca Galletta.
Adopting a variety of styles into this group sessions Mat strives to provide a genuine, open and comfortable environment for both men and women of all fitness levels to train and accomplish their goals.
As they say, it takes 21 days to form a habit however it only takes 3 workouts a week to provide enough stimulus to gain results. I have now been training with Mat for one month which has seen a 1.4kg loss after a plateau for around 3months. You can see why this training package is Mats most popular option within the group based environment. One hour in my day, 3 in my week, is all it took. Its really not that much when you look at the big picture.
Mat really wants his clients to know fitness should be fun, yes, it will challenge you but no matter what is ahead of you there is no client left behind and Mat dedicates himself to not letting you leave with something unachieved. This is an aspect of the training that Mathew Baldwin Personal Training strives towards each and everyday.
Its fun, its challenging but most importantly it will leave you wanting more. Its the healthy addiction and a decision you won’t regret and before long you will be asking yourself why you didn’t start sooner.
Mat is also accepting teens with active kids vouchers which is a great opportunity to save some money which ultimately benefits the family as a whole.

From sensory play to role play, Baby Paraiso kids cafe has it all!

Located in the heart of the Hurstville CBD you will find Baby Paraiso. An indoor soft play kids cafe.
Upon arriving I was greeted at the cafe counter and was asked to remove my shoes and was then welcomed into the play centre. The first thing I noticed upon entering the cafe was the amount of natural light flowing in through the large glasss windows making the colour scheme which is a sea of tranquil blues, very inviting.
After entering the cafe you will notice the ample amount of seating available to sit and enjoy a coffee or meal from the cafe while easily supervising the children while they play. The soft play structure is only two levelss which makes it safe and easy to watch children.
Although I didn’t sample the food while at the cafe, I did view the menu. There is a simple kids menu with a number of asian favourites from Pork floss seaweed sandwiches to mini wontons with fruit and juice, along with Mini pizzas and chicken schnitzel and rice. Although the menu wasn’t extensive and mainly targeted the Hurstville demographic I think it provided enough options I believe to satisfy most appetites and with prices starting at $9.00 its a reasonably cheap way to provide a few hours of fun and a full belly. The menu and more are available on my instagram highlights.
The soft play area itself is somewhat a smallish area but it definitely doesnt disappoint when it comes to sensory play. The play area consists of a role play grocery store complete with mini trolleys and a range of faux fruit and vegetables on display just like a real grocery store. Let the kids imaginations run wild while they do the weekly grocery shop.

Moving along to the next role play area where children have the opportunity to dress up, with outfits ranging from princesses to firefighters. Once an outfit has been selected the role playing reaches a whole new level as they navigate the grocery store as Elsa or a construction worker.
Once the role playing has finished its time to move onto the two level soft play structure which they can balance, climb, crawl, weave and slide their way through the obstacles to reach the sea of balls. The soft play area is complete with a wide silver slide straight into the ball pit that is filled with blue, purple and clear balls. There is an interactive projector on the wall which is engaging and elevates the aim of sensory play.
If working on the fine motor skills is more of what you’re after there is a duplo table alongside the soft play area that allows children to build and problem solve and get creative.
For the ultimate in sensory play there is also a room filled with pellets that somewhat resembles an indoor sandpit that children can wade through while filling up their dump trucks or buckets.
We enjoyed our morning at Baby Paraiso kids cafe and after much research found that this is the perfect venue to escape the weather with toddlers who have energy to burn. I feel that the cafe is suitable for children up to 5 years old.

The cafe can however be a little tricky to find but I found that if you utilise the council car park located at 7-11 The Avenue Hurstville and then take the lift to level G it will open up at the exact level of the cafe. Turn right from the lift and then after proceeding through the glass door turn right again and you are there.
Parking is easy, Although I was of the belief it was free for 3 hours. However, upon leaving after 45mins I was charged $2.00 so I believe the parking is no longer free but I didn’t check for their rates.
The cafe is also available to hire if you’re planning a party! Details of party hire are available on our instagram highlights.
Overall we enjoyed our time at Baby Paraiso and would visit again, maybe taking advantage of Westfields free 3hr parking and walking the short distance to the cafe, this cafe is definitely somewhere I would suggest a play date with a friend or just somewhere to escape the weather while enjoying a coffee or milk tea.
TIP: Always call ahead to confirm they are not closed due to a private function and to confirm any pricing changes. I did however find that they are very poor at answering the phone so be mindful. Check out our instagram highlights for more photos and current pricing as of June 2022.
The cafe is open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, closed on Saturdays and open Sundays 9am to 1pm.
This cafe is a welcomed edition to the local community and I hope to see them flourish for many years.

It is said a make up artist is someone with a detailed, in depth knowledge of make-up and beauty products and procedures who uses them to create desired visual results. So when we are looking for someone to work their magic for our next event we often look for professionalism, knowledge, interpersonal skills, attention to detail and someone who listens attentively to what we want and is able to use their expert knowledge to bring our vision to life.
So when local mum Marian Mikhael decided after years in the banking industry she would have a career change into something that worked around her children she decided the time was right to follow her dream into make up artistry our our local community is now reaping the rewards.

From her home salon in Penshurst or the comfort of your own home Marian is able to guide you and your girlfriends, sister or mum on how to apply 2 looks. beginning with a soft glam look in which you will be taught how to transform into a dramatic look that will take you from the office, gym or school drop off right through to dinner and drinks at night.
With the opportunity for lots of questions and recommendations not only during the lesson but after you have left Marian is available to assist you and is always open to chatting and sharing in your new looks for your future events and days and nights out.

When optimism creates the most Epic Mum Fail !
Let me tell you about my latest epic Mum fail, actually, Who am I kidding it’s more a public apology to anyone who was at Woolworths today around 4:30.
It started with such good intentions. “I just need to get two things”. I don’t need (cant be bothered) to take the pram and again I only need ‘two’ things. I’ll take the carrier she said. The toddler can walk. My first mistake.
Walnuts and feta. Two things! We had been out most of the day – so cue tired and hungry children. I don’t get a say whether I’m tired or hungry. Because let’s face it I’m too tired and hungry to care.
So we exit the lift and I’m still optimistic. Then bam! free apples!
The toddler takes off. I have an 8kg 4month old strapped to me – you read right. Shit!I attempt to chase, I decide to yell instead.
Now, this freedom has only started since I had my second. My eldest used to enjoy being lazy and happily sat in the pram. Not now. Now I’m teaching the word stop, while he’s working on his selective hearing.Ok, so I’ve now decided I need to go to the deli. I’ll grab the feta there. Im trying to focus on what I’m ordering while the toddler bails up the poor guy packing the shelves. So by this point I have the 8kg baby destroying my back and shoulders in the carrier, feta in one hand, wallet and keys in the other and as I head towards the toddler to try and rescue the poor staff member I realise my shoe lace is undone. Fuck! I mutter as I tell myself just focus on not falling the fuck over, you just need walnuts and you’re out of here. So I apologise to the staff member who is just trying to do his job, ‘aren’t we all mate, aren’t we all’, and the toddler is off again.

Just when you think it can’t get any worse the male staff member looks concerned and asks if I’m going to be ok with both of my laces undone
I thought it was only one and I could just walk very carefully and not kill the baby.He then asks rather awkwardly, do you want me to do them up? As he gives me the look of total concern for all our welfare’s. I’m mortified. At this point I stand there like this ->
with my hands full, unable to see my feet, screaming at the toddler to stand still, with a total stranger doing up my shoes asking me if I want a trolley. Mate, I want a bloody sedative and a sangria at the moment but we can’t have everything so if you can just point me in the direction of walnuts I’ll leave you in peace. Do you know how hard it is to find walnuts when you’re a little nuts yourself!
So, I need 100g, I see a 1kg bag – $14
That’ll do, whatever, I just need to get out of here.So I make it to the line for the self service and the waiting customers tell me to go ahead – I’m sorry, he’s not usually this bad. I’m kidding, he is, he’s 3 and since I dared to give him a sibling he’s intensified for my viewing pleasure

At this point I’m done, I start scanning my items and the song
‘run to paradise’
starts playing in my head. Mainly to drown out my 3yo who is sliding along the floor reciting the alphabet at the top of his lungs. So, I’m sorry to anyone who had to endure my rookie error shit show. I’ve never had two kids before, or a three year old and I literally have no idea what I’m doing.
But hey my kid knows the alphabet so that’s something
